Some horses wear chrome. This one wears it like he earned it.
This 2021 AQHA palomino gelding is loud-colored, good-minded, and built with the kind of practical experience people spend years trying to put on one. He has a big bald face, big stockings, splashes of white on his belly, and enough eye appeal to get noticed anywhere he goes. But the best part about him is not the color. Underneath all that pretty is a solid, seasoned ranch horse with a full-time job and the resume to back it up.
For the past year, he has been used daily on a yearling cattle operation, and he knows what an honest day’s work feels like. He has had more early mornings than most people and is no stranger to busy alleys, bawling cattle, sorting pens, and staying with a job until it is done. With us, he has gathered cattle, sorted pairs, doctored wheat pasture cattle, pulled sick ones, loaded trucks, shipped cattle, and handled the kind of commotion that either makes one steady or shows you what they are missing. This one got solid.
He is steady and handy outside. He will sidepass up to absolutely any gate and knows how to put himself where you need him. That experience shows when you are opening gates, sorting cattle, or getting something done in tight quarters. We have also used him to brand on and drag calves to the fire. He knows ropes, pressure, noise, cattle, and a full day’s work, and he handles it like one that has been there before.
While he has more than earned his keep in the ranch world, he has also gotten to enjoy the finer things in life through the bridle reins. He has seen the sights of several Texas state parks, from Palo Duro Canyon in the Panhandle to Dinosaur Valley State Park in the hills of Central Texas. He has crossed the Canadian and Paluxy Rivers, gone through water without hesitation, climbed up and down embankments, pushed through thick brush, and covered rough country with confidence. He loves water, watches where he puts his feet, and stays steady when the trail gets tricky. In our experience, he has been careful without being worried and confident without being reckless.
He has not been a spooky horse for us and has not offered to buck, even with time off.
He is the kind a lot of people can ride, but he will be best appreciated by someone who understands a true using horse. He is gentle and useful, but he is not a deadhead or a kick-along type. He has a ground-covering walk, likes to travel, and is happiest when he has somewhere to go and something to do. He has a real handle, a good stop, and enough life to remind you he has been used for a living. He is not hot or silly, just a broke horse that travels out and likes having a job. He is ready to go any direction you wish.
His quirk is that he can be a little funny to saddle. Nothing dangerous, no setting back, no blowing up, and nothing that keeps you from getting him ready, but he may move around or take a few steps while you are saddling him. Once you step on, he rides off and goes to work.
In the arena, he lopes with presence and purpose. He has a great neck rein, a good stop, and rides around broke without feeling dull or lifeless. He carries himself well, travels with confidence, and has the kind of look that makes people turn around and ask about him.
He stands 15.1 hands and has plenty of shape. He is up to date on all care, easy to catch, great for the farrier, and good to handle day to day. He loads and unloads himself, hauls like a veteran, and is the kind you can hop out of the trailer and go use.
This is not just a pretty palomino with white legs and a flashy face. He has color, shape, experience, and the kind of work history that gives a horse substance. Good-looking, well-traveled, ranch-proven, and made to be appreciated by someone who knows what they are sitting on.
We do our best to represent every horse honestly based on our time with them, the jobs they have done, and how they have handled our program. Horses are still horses, and every buyer, rider, and environment is different, so we always encourage people to come ride, ask questions, watch the videos, and make sure the fit feels right before purchase.
